We are often asked "Why
Salon Medusa? Didn't Medusa have snakes for hair?" But
few people know the entire Legend of Medusa.
In Greek
Mythology, there were three sisters: Sthenna, a blond,
Euryale, a
redhead, and Medusa, who had spectacular black hair so
silky and shiny it reflected the moonlight. All three
of the Moon Goddesses were gorgeous, but Medusa was the most
beautiful of them all. Gods and mortals alike pursued them.
One night the sisters seduced
three gods in the temple of Athena. Athena, jealous of the
sisters' great beauty, became enraged and pronounced a curse
on the three:
"Hair-proud
women, vain and haughty, how you'll wish you'd not been
naughty. When you look in the mirror, you'll get shivers
and shakes, your long thick hair is now a nest of
snakes!"
Because Medusa
was the most beautiful, the jealous Goddess cast a second
spell on her alone:
"Medusa, here's a curse for you alone, whoever looks
upon your face shall be turned to stone. Gods
or mortals, there is no place to hide, one peek at
you and they'll be petrified!"
We feel that
Medusa embodies our vision of beauty, a confident woman with
hair so gorgeous she had the power to make goddesses
jealous. When you leave
Salon Medusa, Gods and mortals alike will pursue you and like Medusa you will stop them in
their tracks! We will bring out the goddess in you, and give
you......Looks that Kill!
